TestingFrom the README

A passing test isn't
a repaired bug.

Improving a generated test and fixing application code are different things. Evidence should keep them separate.

Testing starts
with context.

Tessera is an open-source Tauri desktop app. It reads a local project, retrieves relevant code, and uses your selected model to generate testing artifacts.

What it does today

Your provider choice matters.

Generation stays local when you select local providers. Cloud LLM and embedding choices send relevant prompts and code context to those providers.

Installer availability and the latest implementation status should be checked in the repository. Draft builds are not public releases.

Architecture note

Local-first doesn't
mean local-only.

Tessera supports local providers as well as OpenAI, OpenRouter, Anthropic, and Gemini. The LLM and embedding provider are selected independently.

With local providers, generation stays on your machine. With cloud providers, relevant prompts and code context leave your machine. Jira and the optional Boards server also use network services.

A separate boundary for test execution.

Supported test execution requires an explicit Docker sandbox opt-in. Sandbox containers run without network access.

Local-first is a choice the tool makes available, not a blanket promise about every configuration.

Testing note

A passing test isn't
a repaired bug.

Tessera can refine generated tests with a bounded healing loop. But changing a test until it passes does not establish that the application code was repaired.

The repository's staged-review plan calls for findings linked to code, with evidence tied to exact source and test versions. That is a documented direction, not a claim that the complete review engine is available.

Different claims need different evidence.

A fixture check, a passing generated test, and a verified application fix are not interchangeable results.
